"A refuge for
the orphaned and mentally deranged patients, a warm nest for the
Akasa Paravakal (Birds of Paradise - as the inmates are lovingly
called), and helping them to enter a new life of peace and
contentment. An asylum for those innocent whose minds have lost
their rhythms, and leading them to light with the help of God
Almighty." That is SNEHASRAMAM. |
|
We at SNEHASRAMAM consider all the
inmates as our own brothers and sisters, and lead each of them
with loving words emanating from our hearts. We don’t worry if
our day ends with nothing reserved for tomorrow, for we believe
in divine providence. We trust that the good God who has given
us mouth will feed us too. With God’s intervention our affairs
are going on smoothly without much funds or sponsorships. Our
well-wishers and other kind-hearted people try to help us. Our
Director Mr. Thomas makes sure that each inmate has eaten well
and gives thanks to God before he himself sits down to his
meals. |

|
SNEHASRAMAM
shelters over 120 mentally deranged inmates who had been picked
up from the streets or brought by acquaintances. During the
first few days of arrival they react violently by destroying or
throwing away what ever reaches their hands, even if it is a
piece of paper without caring a damn. However, we become
rewarded when, after some days of attentive and loving care,
they are able to carefully fold and keep a sheet of paper. We
consider this change as the beginning of their journey towards a
balanced mind. |
|
We provide each patient with
professional treatment, a balanced diet and a quiet place to
sleep. Once they regain their normal senses, they can go back to
their relatives. But very often the relatives disown some of
them. Some others have no place to go back at all. Still, there
are others who decide to stay back at SNEHASRAMAM and spend the
rest of their lives to take care of other inmates. What ever it
may be, all are happy to have their services. They continue to
stay at the home doing what ever they can. |
|
|
A large amount
of money is needed each day for treatment, food and clothing,
and maintenance of SNEHASRAMAM. Yet, leaving everything in the
hands of God we are going ahead united, trying to fly up in the
broad sky like birds of paradise, in search of love and mercy.
